Meditations & Reflections

Meditations & Reflections of Martin Dzediku (dzediku@gmail.com) for the next 60 months – written on 28 December 2019.

*On you*
Man know thyself.
Be you.
Be original.
Be purposeful.
You will have more genuine friends when you are YOU than a ‘counterfeit’.
Whatever your philosophy, SPT (Study Practise Teach – Ezra 7:10).
Be a coach and a mentor to somebody or many people.

Steve Jobs Said This Was the Most Important ‘Tool’ He Had Ever Encountered to Make the Most of His Life. It helped him make the right choices, the bigger they got. In his teens, the late Steve Jobs read a quote that would resonate with him for the rest of his life: “If you live each day as if it were your last, someday you’ll most certainly be right.” And this quote held so much sway over his decisions, and he proposed that the concept of death can help guide us throughout our lives. Live each day as if it were your last.

*On studying*
Be a serious student of life. See life as a library.
Learn from everywhere, everything and everybody.
Be a lifelong learner. Share what you learn to consolidate what you know.
Every leader is a reader.

*On Control*
Always be in control and be responsible.
Actually you are always in control.
You are in control of spending less than you earn or more than you earn.
You are in control of your body weight.
You are in control of your exercise and fitness ‘regime’

*On God*
Nyame ne hene (God is sovereign).
Nyame te ase (He is a living God).
He is a merciful God. Don’t forget.
His steadfast love never cease. Don’t forget that.
His grace exceeds your needs. Always.
Always say and sing “I need thee every hour”.
Read, study and remember God’s word.
Read 5 Psalms a day. Chant a psalm a day.

*On longevity*
Your legacy is based on contribution and not longevity. BBC Komla Dumor died at age 41 but left a legacy bigger than folks who died at 80. It is contribution and not just longevity.
But seek to make your life long and its purpose in the service of others (Tecumseh).
Also please don’t drive yourself into an earlier grave dug for others.
Life is the struggle to keep death at a respectable distance (Jim Rohn).

*On health*
The 1st wealth is health;this is not a tired cliche. It is wisdom. It is precept. We cannot boast of prosperity without GOOD HEALTH..
Nobody enjoys 100% perfect health. Know what you are dealing with? Do you have PhD (perfectly hidden depression), cancer, cholesterol, PR bleeding, cardiac disease, diabetes, IBS? Know what you are dealing with. Accurate diagnosis is half the cure. Don’t allow a developing or minor ailment to become a showstopper due to negligence.
Nobody can do your good health for you. It is self administered.

You Must have these free 4 natural medicines everyday. It is a MUST- [a] sleep for 7 hours (minimum) and wake up before 4am + [b] drink min. 2 litres of water + [c] passing soft stools + [d] walk for 35 minutes continuously on both flat and hilly grounds (measure it). Bonus: Always shower before you sleep even if you are super tired. It puts you in control.

You made yourself fat. Only you can make yourself thin or lose weight. It starts with Ambition. Nobody can do it for you. If a certain medicine makes you fat, please keep searching for a replacement medicine that won’t make you fat. Don’t solve one problem by creating another.

You are what you eat – both quantity and quality. Study the food you eat or enjoy and what it does to your body and energy levels. Some foods make you fat. Some foods make you bloat. Some foods add to your weight immediately. Some foods constrict your digestive tubes and make egestion harder if not impossible.

From time to time, miss a meal or 2. Don’t always stuff your face, also starve yourself occasionally. Also learn to starve yourself from social media intermittently.

Eat a lot of green vegetables and green fruits. Kale, spinach, cucumber etc. The greener the better.
Once a year, do your colonic or colonic hydrotherapy or colon irrigation. Stubborn waste can stay in your tubes for a very long time which must be dislodged.

On Hydration, you should drink one litre of clear water for every 50 Ibs of body weight. If you weigh 190 Ibs (or 86 kilos) , you should aim to drink 3.8 litres. Distilled water is good.

*On Money*
5 great words of antiquity – Spend less than you earn.
Get out of consumer debt.
Money is important.
Money can be life and death.
Savings is a habit.
Save first, then spend rest. Don’t spend first and hope you will still have some to save.
Find out about Micawbers principle. Embrace it.

By being rich you do not automatically become happy, but by being poor, it’s almost impossible to be one. Being rich is the mandatory requirement in order to be happy, but not the only one.
Only the ones that want it real bad, will become rich.
You must earn it and it takes sweat blood and tears; it doesn’t grow on trees.
Property investment or Real Estate is the language of the Rich. Own the house you live in. Join friends and associates, pull resources together and invest in properties or real estate for an investment gain.

*On time*
Your life = your time
Your time = your life.
Waste your time and you waste your life.
Invest your time.

*On Goals and Targets*
Stop annual goals. Start decade goals, 20,30,40 year goals.
All goals must be clear in your mind.
Hazy goals produce hazy results. Foggy goals produce foggy results. Clear goals certainly produce clear results.
All goals must be written down.
Goals and Targets are the best kept secret of the happy wealthy and healthy.
Without a Goal, you don’t go.
A goal is a propulsive force.
Propulsive efficiency is the efficiency with which the energy contained in a vehicle’s propellant is converted into kinetic energy of the vehicle, to accelerate it, or to replace losses due to aerodynamic drag or gravity. Goals are propulsive. Always have a clear written-down ’emotive’ goal.

*On Hardwork*
Be industrious.
Industrious = diligence + hardwork.
I learned the value of hard work by working hard (Mead).
95% of intelligence is hardwork.
A dream doesn’t become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work.
Nothing will work unless you do. (Angelou)

*On records*
Keep records.
The shortest pencil is better than a great memory.
Good records will protect you.
Become your own archivist.

*On Others*
Equanimity is the ultimate goal.
This sentence will liberate you forever – “what others think of you is none of your business”.
Make decisions you can live with.
True friends may not like your decisions but they will remain friends.
First fool is a fool; if he has done it once, once is enough (CTG).
Unless you are true to yourself, you cannot be true to others. .
I used to read five psalms every day – that teaches me how to get along with God. Then I read a chapter of Proverbs every day and that teaches me how to get along with my fellow man(Billy Graham).
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has (Mead).
Never believe that a few caring people can’t change the world. For, indeed, that’s all who ever have.

*On Gratitude*
Become a gratitude genius, always counting your blessings.
When sad, count your blessings.
When angry, count your blessings.
When ill, count your blessings.
When broke, count your blessings.
Gratitude brings peace for today.
Be grateful for what you have and stop complaining – it bores everybody else, does you no good, and doesn’t solve any problems. Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues, but the parent of all the others.
Every morning let your heart swell with gratitude.
You are alive with all your essential body functions – you can talk, see, walk, hear, breath. Be deeply grateful.
